Seven Days at Lake House, A Maine Inn Close to So Much!
Travel to Portland and Cape Elizabeth on your fourth day of fun in Maine. Portland is the largest city in Maine offering an abundance of shopping, dining and art, and events. This bustling city is only about 1.5 hour drive from our Maine inn. From there, experience Cape Elizabeth, a serene coastal town in Southern Maine.

4 Portland, Cape Elizabeth
Portland: The largest city in Maine, offers many things to many
people 2002 population 63,882. Land area 21.2
square miles. It has the amenities of an urban area, yet the feel of
a laid back Boston. Visit the city of Portland’s Web Site www.ci.portland.me.us
for tours of the city, parking, city services, and lots of useful
information. Pages could be written about what to do in Portland. I
will attempt to scratch the surface.

Portland Museum of Art has permanent exhibits in the Winslow
Homer Gallery plus changing exhibitions through out the year.
Gift shop and education programs.

McLellan House, a fully restored Federal-era building, (1801),
and the Beaux-Arts structure, the L. D. M. Sweat Memorial
Galleries (1911) are united with the modern Charles Shipman
Payson building to actively serve Maine's citizens. The House
and Galleries have been returned to their past elegance as
welcoming spaces for the preservation of the Museum's fine
collections of 19th-century American paintings and decorative
arts.

Portland has restaurants for day to day dining as well as that
"special place".

Portland Waterfront is a sea port where fresh fish can be
found year round as well as some of the best eating
establishments in town.

The Old Port area is a Mecca for shopping.

If relaxing is what you’re looking for, the parks are the
place to go.

Walking paths abound around Back Cove and through streets to
downtown Portland.

Don’t forget a trip to Peaks Island.

Saturday night in Portland turns the Old Port from shopping to
hot night spot with clubs, restaurants, bars.

Portland Pirates play hockey at the Cumberland County Civic
Center when well known musicians are not occupying the area.

Merrill Auditorium houses various events during the year as
well as Portland Symphony.
Cape Elizabeth

Fort Williams Park is the perfect place for picnics, relaxing,
touring the light house and watching the ocean waves crashing
the rocks.
